Christian Marriage: A Journey of Love and Mission (By Dr. Edwrd Edezath - Session for JY Germany on Nov 20, 2021) 1. A Journey, Not a Trap Many people at some point in their married life begin to wonder, “Is this what I expected?” What began with romance and excitement can sometimes feel like a trap or a routine. But perhaps what has really changed is not love itself—but our stage in the journey of love . Marriage is not a static state; it is a lifelong pilgrimage of two unique individuals growing into one. Husband and wife remain distinct, yet are drawn together in a spiritual, exclusive, and indissoluble bond forged by God Himself. What God has joined, no civil or religious authority can separate. Each marriage is ...

Starting Something New (BJYT016)

Starting Something New (By Dr. Edward Edezhath - for Amoris Christi's Anointed & Sent - April 20th, 2022) “Behold, I make all things new.” — Revelation 21:5 Every time God begins something new, the world changes. The book of Acts tells us about the early disciples who “turned the world upside down” (Acts 17:6). From frightened followers, they became fearless witnesses—pioneers of faith who dared to start something new, moved by the Spirit. The Call to Begin To start something new is not merely to launch a project or try a different idea; it is to respond to a divine invitation. It is God whispering, “I make all things new” — through you. When we say “starting something new,” we are speaking about openness to the Spirit’s movement in our lives — about being reborn, creative, and courageous. St. Paul says, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation” (2 Cor 5:17). In Christ, we are called not to repeat old patterns but to become co-creators with Him. Aristotle once said, “W...

The Gifts of the Holy Spirit at Work in Jesus Youth (BJYT011)

Image
The Gifts of the Spirit or Charisms at Work in Jesus Youth What are the manifestations of the Spirit in JY? (Dr. Edward Edezhath - input for proposed JYA Ad-Core followup) Paul writes, “To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” (1 Cor 12:7) What St Paul saw in the early Church, the Church still sees—and needs—today. Vatican II (LG 12) and the Catechism (CCC 799–801) teach that charisms have not ceased; they are given “for the renewal and building up of the Church.”  What are the typical manifestations of the Spirit today, with a special focus on what we frequently encounter in Jesus Youth (JY) individuals and communities? 1) Pauline/Biblical framework (the same today) • Sanctifying gifts (Is 11:2) that make us holy: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, fear of the Lord. • Charismatic gifts (1 Cor 12; Rom 12; 1 Pet 4): prophecy, healing, tongues, interpretation, miracles, discernment of spirits, words of knowledge/wisdo...
