JY Spirituality: Joyful Living of Pentecost Today

Jesus Youth: A Catholic Ecclesial Movement 

Jesus Youth invites young people and families to encounter Christ personally and embark on an interior journey with the Trinity, rooted in vibrant community life. Members are called to lead others into a dynamic relationship with Christ and to animate their social environments with the Gospel’s message. The movement’s spirituality is shaped by four key elements:

1. Core: Baptism in the Holy Spirit 

   A renewal of Baptism and Confirmation, fostering a vibrant interior life, active participation in the Church community, and missionary zeal through the gifts and charisms of the Holy Spirit.

2. Culture: Simplicity and Joy  

   Inspired by St. Francis of Assisi, members embrace a lifestyle of simplicity, humility, creativity, and joy, reflecting the movement’s patron saint.

3. Context: Pentecost in Everyday Life 

   Drawing from St. Vincent Pallotti’s vision, as depicted in the icon “Mary, Queen of Apostles,” members live out the graces of Pentecost in their daily lives and professions as ordinary, faithful people.

4. Today: Synodal Journey 

   A community-oriented path of listening to one another and the Holy Spirit, discovering a shared mission, and celebrating it with love and unity.

It is youthful and youth-focused, as these elements empower Jesus Youth to stay attuned to the “signs of the times,” fostering enthusiasm for the mission, and setting forth as a joyful, interconnected community dedicated to spreading the Gospel.

Youth Accompaniment - Youth Ministry  Youth Ministry - Community, youth, and discipline I taught literature and psychology in those schools, and some of my pupils were very inquisitive, sometimes even rebellious. On one occasion, a boy called Roberto slapped a smaller boy during a game of football. It was a serious matter, but rather than punishing him I thought up a different lesson. I told him to meet me in a classroom on a particular day at a particular time.  When he arrived, he found ten of his classmates sitting in a circle with me. I asked him to tell them all what had happened, and to give his reasons for what he had done. Some of his friends consoled him, others gave him advice, a few laughed the whole thing off (I pretended not to notice).
